WGEM-TV is the NBC-affiliated television station for the Tri-States area of Western Illinois, Northeastern Missouri, and extreme Southeastern Iowa that is licensed to Quincy, Illinois. The station broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 24 from a transmitter located near Ursa, Illinois. Owned by Nexstar Media Group along with fellow Quincy stations WGEM-FM (95.1 FM) and WGEM NewsTalk 1250 AM/104.9 FM, it has studios on South 24th Street in Quincy.

The station signed on the air as an ABC affiliate on October 17th 1953; however it switched to NBC in 1956 when KHQA took over ABC affiliation for the market. It was originally owned by Midwestern Broadcasting Company along with WGEM radio (AM 1020 and FM 95.1). In 1981 Midwestern sold off its broadcast properties including WGEM TV to Pulitzer Publishing Company which would later become known as Emmis Communications after merging with Emmis Broadcasting Corporation in 1994; however they sold all their broadcasting assets including this station to current owner Nexstar Media Group in 2003 following their purchase of Quorum Broadcasting's holdings earlier that year making it part of a duopoly with KHQA-TV which had been acquired by Quorum shortly before being purchased by Nexstar itself.
